Whooooooooooooohhhhhhhh

I found this printable game here, in the 'play' section. I'm not sure how you play it, but it looks cute.

Happy Halloween !

Dolly mine.

This is fun, the dolly is very quick to knit and she has the most wonderful accessories. I'm pretending it's going to be a christmas present for Molly, but she's hates dollies and will toss it aside with disgust.

And then it will be mine, all mine. HA HA HA.

Things I do instead of the housework.

Top3

A page from my sketch book, exploring ideas for this. MUCH more fun than housework.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on Rita, she's a 'sit and stare, until you figure it out'  copy of this chap,  basically just a fat square with bits added on.

That's it from me, the kids are on their half term holiday today and next week, as usual I am relying heavily on the bargaining/blackmail method of parenting, for example..

15 mins peace and quiet for Mummy = 1 ice lolly

and my 15 mins just ran out.

Who ate all the pies ?

Is it any wonder Rita's legs are buckling underneath her ?

Craft book 9

ISBN 4 86067 036 1

Title ;  A hint for bringing memories into shape , ( in other words - Ideas to use up your old 'odds and sods' )

Some lovely patchwork,

Img_6873

bowls made from jumbled up wire,

Img_6874

bracelets that look like strips of bias binding with beads and buttons sewn on

Img_6876

more scrappy patchwork,

Img_6877

nice flower brooches

Img_6884

and this could be a fun project to do with the kids.

There aren't any patterns in this book, the pictures are pretty and there are some nice ideas , but it's a slim volume , so I would save your hard -earned pennies for something else.

Like chocolate.

Friday, friday, so good for me

No crafting today, Molly is poorly and home from school, so we've been busy having a cuddle and watching Maisy.  We love Maisy.

Here's a photo of Pink baby sockmonkey

Img_65861

who reached her destination safely, looks like she slept all the way.

The little quilt she's sleeping on, has been wrapped, ready to send off to a friend's new born baby girl ( yay, another girl -we WILL rule the world one day ! ),  I forgot to take a photo of the quilt, but here's a close up of the applique,

Img_6786_2

This is about the best I can do when it comes to quilting, it's basically five 4" squares x six 4" squares, with an applique panel at the top and the quilting is 'stitched in the ditch' ( do I sound like I know what I'm talking about ? ). The idea came from Childhood treasures by Caroline Zoob ISBN 1 84172 477 7, which is a fantastically inspirational book using vintage textiles to make gifts for children.

One day, I would like to be able to create quilts like this and this and this, but I doubt it.

Thankyou to everyone who commented on my last post, you really helped me to stop getting in such a tizzy about it all.  : )

Bag

On a very exciting note, Carly has flatteringly, asked me to participate in an exhibition she is putting together shortly .

That, I am very excited about.

What completely floors me, however, is having to write a bit about myself, to accompany my contributions. I am so crap at putting down on paper, what I want to say.

For example, what I would probably write here, is...

Img_6775_1

Small clutch bag, made by an old bag.

That won't do, will it ?

Help.

Any hints or tips would be very gratefully received.

Only joking, Mum

Little bunny.

Stuffed with lavender, to hopefully make my children go to sleep quickly.

If this doesn't work, I'm going to try giving them whisky.

Goodies

Look who came in the mail this week,

Img_6727

Matilda.

Isn't she just gorgeous !. I love everything about her, her expression, her clothes, the fabrics and how beautifully she's been made.  Thankyou Fiona, you're a star.

Here are some of the things I've been looking at this week, sweet bears are to be found here and here (click on the 'sato' link at the top of the page), and here.

For textile goodies look no further than here, here, here, here and here ( click on the superstore link ).

So, THAT'S where the time goes, the next time I'm wondering.

Corsage

To make this,

Img_6694_1

Cut 2 circles ( approx 2.5" diameter) from felt.

4 from fabric a (patterned)

5 from fabric b (spotty)

5 from pattern c (striped).

Img_6671_1

Starting with c, fold in half and sew onto one of the felt circles, about half an inch in from the edge.

Img_6675

Continue, overlapping each circle,

Img_6678

Until you come full circle.

Img_6680

Repeat, this time about 1" in from the edge.

Img_6684

Fold your remaining circle of b in half, place on top of your last circle of c and then stitch onto the middle of your corsage.

Img_6686

Embellish as you please, I've used vintage buttons, sequins, beads and ribbons.

Img_6696

Finish by stitching your 2nd felt circle over your first, and then attaching a brooch pin.

My poor friend bought a corsage like this from a chain store, and then had to endure me picking it to bits, to find out how it was made. Simple isn't it !.
