Panda purse

My Month of Softies contribution

Img_7223

Which tied in nicely with the Cotton & Paint magazine swap with Siow Chin.

I love that magazine, I even took it to bed to read last night. How 'sad' is that ?

Today I am frantically working on things for the children's Christmas fair on Friday, I've made some robins ( I'll be putting the pattern up on Fri ),  there are penguins to be sewn up, and stickers to be made.  I also have a Christmas craft session with 25 seven year olds tomorrow (God help me),  and was wondering if anybody has any ideas for things to do that take about half an hour. ?

I have kept the morning free, so any cutting out or prep can be done then, and yes, I've already thought of  taking plenty of Christmas tape to gag them if the noise level gets too high - which it will.

Any other suggestions (craft or crowd control), would be very gratefully received.

Brrrrrrrrrrr

Yay !

It SNOWED !!! ( excuse the excitement, we live near the coast and it never snows here ).

For anyone interested in the Nuigurumi Style craft book shown on Wed's post, Blair lives near a Japanese bookstore (how envious am I ?) and is up for swaps, so I should hot foot it there - quick.

Pattern taken from the previous book, this book seems to be hard to get hold of, so for anyone having trouble trying to track it down, try this

On the left of this page, in the browsing box, click on the 'Japanese books' link.
Then, in the category box, click on the 'living, health, parenting' link.
Next, click on the 'handicraft/craft' link.
On the left of this page, you will see the 'new releases' section, click on the link at the bottom, and I think this book is about number 32 in the list.
Good luck, it really is a lovely book, there are over 25 patterns in total and well worth the hassle in trying to get it.
In the meantime, here is another cracker.

I have no idea how to get hold of this - I was lucky enough to sweet- talk lovely Siow Chin into a swap, thank you SO MUCH Siow Chin !, I think you can sometimes purchase cotton & paint at amazonjp and yesasia, and I would imagine e-mailing Kitty would also be a good option.
Happy hunting, and Happy Weekend !

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better...

along came this.

Anna panda

How to make a simple soft toy, as requested by a friend.

Img_7228

Enlarge the pattern to whatever size you like, my panda is about 7" tall.

Img_7231

Stitch the eyes onto one body piece and embroider the nose using black embroidery thread.

Img_7232

Using either a blanket or running stitch, sew two pieces together for each arm/leg/ear.

Img_7235

Now is the time to embellish your panda if desired, before sandwiching the ears, arms and legs between the two body pieces.

Img_7236

Pin and stitch together, leaving a gap between an arm and a leg to insert stuffing.

Close gap, and Bob's your Uncle. ( an English expression, meaning ' how simple it is to do something' )

Finally, make her a little friend, instead of doing the chores.

On a different note, LOOK at what this clever girl found. A place to buy cute Japanese fabrics. Woo hoo !

Distant bells

I suppose it's time to start thinking about Christmas.

I LOVE Christmas.

39 days to go.

Devoted sisters.

Rather startled-looking twin kitties.

This will probably be my last post until Monday. My lovely, lovely sister and her family are coming to visit, so I shall be far too busy, eating, talking, laughing, and spending money on sparkly things .

I hope you have as much fun over the weekend as we intend to.

Here's hoping

Today, I shall mostly be looking after two children who have tummy bugs ( that's the polite way of putting it ). I shall also be washing sheets, duvets, soft toys and sofa cushions. Nice.

If I get the chance though, I will be looking here, at the lovely watercolours, dolls and embroidery.

Hopefully.

One, two three

Three softies that are going to the Morphe exhibition - lucky things, ( are you sure you don't want to send me a free plane ticket Carly ? )
