Ho Ho Ho

Happy Holidays to all my lovely blogging buddies ! - I hope everyone has lots of fun and laughter.

Back next year.

Oh, and I'll leave you this year, with my all time favourite quote.

Elwood P Dowd ( James Stewart). From the film 'Harvey' -

"Well, I wrestled with reality for 35 years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it"

Amen to that.

Last minute things.

This is my solution to the ' Aghhh, I've forgotten to buy gifts for the children's teachers' situation. Which usually happens on the last day of term.

1.  Avoid any eye contact with the teacher and quickly run off.

2. Find some pretty fabric, hopefully you have a lovely friend like Kerrie, who sends you some wonderful stuff in the post. Thank you Kerrie : )

3. Drink 2 or 3 large coffees and get started

Cut three circles from card.

Img_7547

Sandwich a couple of layers of something stiff-ish, between two pieces of your pretty fabric.

Img_7548

Like so.

Img_7549

Machine or hand stitch layers together, then cut away excess fabric close to the stitch line.

Img_7559

Sew your circles together, attach the brooch pin and whatever fanciness you have time for.

Then pour more coffee, and spend the rest of the day looking at favourite blogs and nice things on the internet

Say 'Treeeeeees' !

Christmas decorations

Good taste has no place in this house.

Face off ?

Milly

Img_7517

The pattern came from Craft book 12, only Milly has a different face - which I'm not sure about. The bunny in the book has very delicate features, which I think would probably go better with the linen ?

I don't think I can be arsed to change her now though, so I expect she'll stay like this.

A silly Milly.

Bedtime.

Go to sleep penguin !

He's as snug as a bug in a rug, but he doesn't look very tired does he ?

Not much crafting done today.  I spent 4 hours in town, supposedly Christmas shopping, and only managed to buy 2 things. Pathetic !

Mind you, I did buy some nice thread, ribbon, toy stuffing, buttons and lots of felt, with the thought of making up little kits for my family members to do .Taking inspiration from here.

I'd like to see what my big, burly brothers make of that !

The Festive Birds' biennial Christmas party

usually ends badly.

Img_7386_1

Which is why it isn't held every year.

Here's how to make a naughty bird of your own.

Img_7393

Enlarge to any size you fancy, my robin is 4.5 " and the penguin is 3 ".

Cut and stitch as shown, sewing the tummy on first and the beak just above.

Img_7343

Make eyes using felt and embroidery thread, or you could use those stick-on 'goooogly' eyes.

Img_7345_1

Pin and stitch the two body pieces together, turn right side out and close gap.

Img_7395

Add a bell and string if desired, and Fanny's your Aunt ( that's what you say, after someone says Bob's your Uncle ).

Img_7390

These are very quick and fun to do - perfect for selling 'cheeply' at the school Christmas craft fair.

Thank you so much for your great craft suggestions . I went for the finger puppet idea, and spent the whole morning cutting out pieces of felt (with a feeling of impending doom), only to get a phone call at the eleventh hour telling me it had been cancelled.

See, there IS a God.
