Coming and going...

Coming soon

Take a peek, this is a great idea thought up by Kath .

Going soon (hopefully)...

MOP UP

Img_8059

This rather less exciting project involves - one poorly little girl, a mop, a bucket, a washing machine, and no time for crafting. Bleughh !

Arriving soon....

A new camera .

There was nothing wrong with the existing one, until  'Madam Molly' threw it to the ground in a fit of temper. I'd like to say I don't know where she get's it from, but I can't. Let's just say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - I am also known for taking out my frustrations on inanimate objects, ( think Basil Fawlty and you'll get a pretty accurate idea of what our house can be like at times).

The above photo of Molly, taken just after the event, was the best the poor camera could muster.

And yes - Daddy did fall for the trusty ,doe-eyed, ' I'm really sorry Daddy '  trick.

I, on the other hand, can only see defiance.

That's my girl.

Oh, and a BIG thank you to everyone who left a comment on Tibbles and her dress. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply personally. : )

All dressed up

O.k, here goes

Img_7988

Adjust this basic pattern to fit your softie, I usually go a bit bigger than I think I need to - you can always gather the top when applying the ribbon, if it's a bit big.

Img_7990

Put your two pieces of fabric right sides together and pin pattern into place

Img_7993

stitch around pattern piece, not forgetting to leave a gap

Img_7995

cut away excess fabric as shown ,  turn right side out and stitch gap closed.

Img_7996

Stitch your chosen ribbon to the dress, making sure you get a nice snug fit across the shoulders.

Attach buttons, lace or anything you desire, I've also stitched along the bottom hem to give a crisp clean edge.

Happy weekend and happy sewing everyone !

Fur coat...

no knickers.

Honey is about 6" tall and made from mohair.

Img_7974

I've run out of patience today to even start thinking about making a pair of little bear's knickers.

She does have a reversible dress though, which turned out better than I thought ,

Img_7978

in fact, a reversible dress is a lot easier to make than a normal dress. I'll post a how-to on Friday.

Why don't you...

stop what you're supposed to be doing, and spend the next 10 minutes looking at these and this and these and these and this and these and these and these and these.

Go on - you know you want to.

Wine and biscuits anyone ?

Time hijackers

Three (of the many) reasons why I haven't got anything done today

1.

2.

3.

Too much looking, not enough doing.

Must turn off the computer.

Family neglected on a Saturday,

and three scarves knit by a Sunday.

I've used a combination of Rowan Biggy Print and Cotton Braid, Colinette Point Five, Sirdar Fizz,

and Kerrie's amazingly soft silk yarn.

So if like me, you have the attention span of a baby flea when it comes to knitting, this is highly recommended.

Although, what I'd look like in a bikini, is something I don't want to think about right now. Scary.

And alternative uses for buttons

If you can't do up your winter coat. Ahem.

Again, it's a small book with only a few patterns, but it's cheap and very cheerful.

Thank you everybody, for the comments on Molly's softie - she blushed with pleasure when I read them out to her.  It's a 'fine' thing when you're outdone by a five year old, I'd better watch my back.
