Crocheted bag made from half inch strips of leftover fabrics.
Useful for holding my pieces of dyed woollen blanket.
I'll post a tutorial next week, on how easy it is to make your own hand dyed, woollen, felt-type, fabric.
See Hilary's lovely knitted rag ball apron, Rosa's beautiful bag and pattern ( found via Rosa) here.
love the bag - and what a gorgeous way to show off the woollen blankets bits.

Oh and I forgot please please do the post on the fabric. I have seen people dye yarn with kool-aid and wondered if it would work with felt. Can't wait til the next post. Thanks

Your bag is cute. Sounds like you could benefit from the swap I'm trying to get going of my fabric scraps that I have no idea what to do with. (I don't knit, sadly)
Posted by: persephone | May 10, 2006 at 04:32 PM
oops... I meant crochet. Don't do that, either.

I've just posted about my basic crochet skills and how I'm on the lookout for good patterns - and I love this bag! It's fabulous.

This is amazing! So beautiful! I am working on a crochet bag using plastic baggies. I guess I can always adapt the pattern to fabric.

Thank you for the link :) I just love your fabric version - so beautiful! These plastic bags are incredibly resistant - I've been using that one on the photo for almost two years now.

oh I can't wait for the tutorial. You do the best tutorials. And that felted fabric looks so great- the colours are like sweets or icecream!

I love your bag. Must be something in the air, suddenly crochet is appearing everywhere. It is great to see all the different, inspiring interpretations of crochet.

Ooooo...I love the rolled up wool!
Posted by: quenna | May 12, 2006 at 04:05 PM
Look at all the lovely, lovely colors!
And I am really looking forward to the tutorial as well - I keep wondering where everyone finds these lovely woolen felts. All I seem to find are the icky acrylic squares (I suspect I am looking in all the wrong places!)
Once again - beautifully done!
Posted by: LLA | May 12, 2006 at 04:18 PM
so beautiful... i've been seeing more of this around - knitting and crocheting with fabric strips. i love the look, and can't wait for your dyeing tutorial!
Posted by: kelly | May 12, 2006 at 07:53 PM
So pretty? I'm looking forward to that tutorial. Who needs to do anything with those woolen pieces when they look so nice just like that! Beautiful bag.
Posted by: Siri | May 12, 2006 at 10:48 PM
looking forward to the tutorial! your bag reminded me of the rugs I make called "toothbrush rugs". Have you heard of them? you use 1/2 inch strips of fabric and the cutoff end of a toothbrush with a hole in it (like a big needle) to go around and around and make a rug. they're really durable and yet look like a quilt and are as soothing and addictive as knitting.

the colors are lovely!!
Posted by: kristin | May 13, 2006 at 04:11 PM
Oh! Can't wait for the tutelage!!!
Posted by: Alicia P. | May 13, 2006 at 10:37 PM
Oh that is wonderful! :) I love the shape and the colours, and the teeny bits of print poking through. I love knitting with rags, and I love the tearing noise when you are making the rags!
Beautiful :)
