Bloody Nora . It's been a bit chilly here, so my fancy has turned to knitting.
I have an on-off love affair with knitting - mostly off these days. But I need something to put around my shoulders to keep me warm when I'm reading my many many favourite blogs. Which is usually late at night, when the heating has clicked off.
So this is my this weeks wip
Finishing off a 'Granny' type shawl. I started off knitting it and then I got bored and switched to crochet ( crochet is my new best friend, I want to learn how to make something as lovely as this and this).
It all sort of bunched up when I combined the two techniques , but who cares ? Nobody can see me, I don't have a working web cam. My last one cracked.
I think it looks great, and it has a certain style!!! I do like those colours as well, so when do we see it modeled?!

Lovely colours and textures. I think old fashioned bed jackets would make perfect blog reading attire dont you think!

Well I love it. I'd love to be able to achieve this bunched effect! It looks wonderful.

gorgeaous! love it! I am in the process of learning crochet right now, knitting will be next...

Love the shawl!! It will uncrinkle once you're wearing it some too and the crinkle actually gives a nice effect. You meant to do that right? RIGHT!!
I'm loving the ripple blankies too, needing to attempt crochet again. It is not my friend, but maybe it will let me be an aquaintance. ;-)

I was an obsessed crochet queen last year.. I sat for hours and hours with my grandma crocheting our hearts out...And guess what that got me? Not only did I learn how to invent my own awesome patterns.. but, My Granny lovely, gave me the most divine and exquisite creations that her, her mother and her mother's mother crocheted together sitting around a table.. bed coverings, tablecloths..Can you imagine!!!You will be able to make those two lovely blankets that zig-zag, I just know you will!!!

We must be on the same wave length because, a couple of nights ago, I pulled out my knitting stuff again! (I need something better to do with my hands then eat!) I forgot how much I loved it until I went to get some more yarn from the store and felt a surge of adrenaline! I love it!
I too am starting to sway towards crocheting. I am going to embark on a this beautiful throw. (Sorry about the long link but I wanted to show it to you!)

I really love the shawl you are making,I'd really like to have a go at making one for myself. Could you post the pattern or instructions for for it please? and what yarn/wool did you use?
thanks

I think it looks like you'd want to put it on and never take it off, like a little warm friend around your shoulders. Yum. And thanks for the link!

(ummm...not to offend the others that you liked better) but I like yours more. The zigzag didn't do it for me.
The colors you used appeal to me and I also like the bunched effect.
Great job.

Oh, I love it. I love the mix of textures and colours. Most of all I like the fetching needle fastening. You could start a new fashion with this.

This is terrific. Ever since I saw "Amelie" I have wanted to have many little shoulder and neck cozies like the woman she works with (the one who's a hypochondriac). The whole idea of it is so je ne sais quois

I love it bunchie. It looks kind of huggie - you know - it just wants to snuggle around you. You've got me thinking - I NEEEEED one of these, but quite sadly, don't knit OR crochet (on my list of things to learn this year). So in the meantime, how can I come up with my own shawlie/cape? Hmmm...got some ideas....Thanks for the inspiration!

It looks so soft and cozy! And I envy all you crocheters. I can't seem to get it.

Looks cool! To avoid puckering when combining techniques just go up a hook size. I usually try to match the needle and hook sizes. That does the trick most of the time. Bravo!

I have been very good and asked my library to buy the Jan Eaton, Ripple Stitch book. Thank you for getting my crafting mojo going again.

I need to make one of those! What a good idea! I love in an old drafty house with a fritzy heating system. Seems like I'm always either too hot or chilly.
